Are
HeaterMeals suitable for children?
The meals are
suitable but children should only activate the Heating cycle of
HeaterMeals under adult supervision.
Can
HeaterMeals be used anywhere?
Yes, but always
make sure that there is plenty of ventilation.
How
long should I leave my HeaterMeals meal self
heating up for?
Once you have
closed the bag you should leave the meal for 10 minutes unless
you have left your meal in cold conditions
(eg. below freezing in the back of your car) when you should
leave the meal heating for 15minutes.
Can
HeaterMeals be used in Aircraft?
No, Aircraft
cabins are a sealed environment and adequate ventilation is
required.
How
long will the heat last?
The heater will
generate heat for approximately 35 to 40 minutes depending on
the ambient temperature. It can be used as a body warmer in cold
conditions.
Is
the chemical reaction safe?
Yes! The only
caution is to avoid spilling the hot water that is inside the
heater sleeve or holding the heater sleeve immediately after
activation because both are very hot. An activated heater
produces heat and steam.
Are
there any toxic elements to the heater or heater sleeve?
Provided the
product is used as directed and disposed of thoughtfully, there
is no toxic risk.
Is
this technology being used elsewhere?
Yes. The
technology was first introduced during DESERT STORM (1992) to
heat the US military meals known as MREs. In 1998, 28 million
heater sleeves were used by the US military. Since 1997, the
military (MoD) in the United Kingdom began purchasing heaters
and in early 1998, the Canadian military purchased a quantity
for trial purposes.
